No Typical Fund Manager

Our paths first crossed when we were in Primary 5, almost 40 years ago.
Today, Linus L. may be CEO of Phillip Capital Management, but he’s far from your typical finance professional. Linus has always had a flair for the performing arts, and he manages to balance sharp intellect with boundless creativity.
In 1996, he earned rave reviews in The Straits Times for his lead role in the award-winning stage play Lizard in the Loo. And in 2001, he took home the title of Singapore’s funniest man by winning the Stand-Up Comedy Competition. He went up against Sheikh Haikel – Singapore’s famous rapper, comedian, and TV personality – who had a legion of fans, while Linus had just two (and yes, I was one of them). But with his wit and humour, Linus won over the crowd and the title. Earlier this year, he performed Wing Chun, a form of Chinese martial arts, while launching the Phillip-China A50 Connect Exchange Traded Fund in SGX. That must have been a first!
Here’s to you, Linus, for keeping life entertaining – both on stage and off!
Happy Birthday!
