Dentist attempts to save No Signboard

Caught up with Dr Chin Siau Ng, CEO of Singapore’s largest dental chain Q&M with 100 clinics here (another 42 in Malaysia). He made news recently for taking a controlling stake in No Signboard Holdings, the embattled seafood restaurant group best known for its white pepper crab. The Catalist-listed firm was suspended from trading in January as it was unable to demonstrate that it can continue as a going concern.

He bought a 29% stake for S$1, together with a commitment for an interest-free unsecured loan of S$2.6 million to the seafood group.

Turning around a floundering F&B business in the face of all the challenges certainly seems like pulling teeth. But then again, pulling teeth is Chin Siau’s forte.
