IPO King’s Golden Return
Aug 27, 2025
Choo Chee Kong was known as the “King of IPOs” back in the early 2000s. It was not difficult to see why. He left DBS to start corporate advisory firm SBI E2 Capital in 2001. In the first 18 months, he had already listed 24 companies, which accounted for half of all IPOs in Singapore at that time.
Shortly after stepping away from the IPO scene, he invested in a gold mining company CNMC. It became the first gold mining company to list on the SGX in 2011. Choo still serves as the company’s Vice Chairman, and over the past year, its share price has tripled.
