In recent months, there has been considerable media attention on Variable Capital Companies (VCC), a flexible corporate structure for funds that was introduced in Jan 2020 by the government. The Edge write-up this week is the most comprehensive. Catch it if you are keen to know more about VCCs.
In my view, it is a game-changer that will propel Singapore’s wealth management ambitions.
I set up 2 Singapore-domiciled funds before establishing a VCC umbrella with numerous sub-funds. The process is indeed a lot less painful and a lot more cost effective. Coupled with a far tighter regulatory regime, we will steal a march on the well-established Cayman structure.
