Terence Wong, CFA
It all started with a big bang
Terence Wong’s journey in the stock market was sparked by the Black Monday crash in 1987. With the primary school national exams looming, he viewed anything capable of diverting his parents’ attention from incessant studying as worth exploring.
Thankfully, his chosen career path is nowhere as tumultuous as the ’87 market meltdown. He was voted Best Country Analyst, served as a judge in the first televised stock challenge, and managed Singapore’s largest independent research company.
In 2015, Terence took the entrepreneurial leap by establishing Azure Capital, following 12 eventful years as the head of research at RHB Investment Bank (formerly known as OSK-DMG) and SIAS Research.
During his time in RHB, Terence assembled a team of young analysts who punched above their weights. His team earned acclaim as the top research house in the Starmine Analyst Awards, while Terence was voted Singapore’s top analyst in the Asiamoney Brokers’ Poll.
Over the past 25 years, Terence has actively shared his views with broadcast and print media. He has also imparted insights to over 40,000 investors through more than 200 seminars regionally. An avid volunteer, he helps with the underprivileged and the elderly. He is one of the few Singaporeans known to have completed a 24-hour volunteer marathon.
Terence currently serves as Chairman of the Investment Committee of SGX-listed Second Chance Properties and Director at Lyte Principal, a licensed fintech. He also sat on the Audit and Risk Committee of the Securities Investors Association (Singapore), Asia’s largest organised investor group.
