Asia ex – Japan ESG funds return – 20.1% in 2022, lagging broader market (Business Times)

Was asked by BT’s Janice Lim on the reason behind ESG funds’ underperformance. I told her dirty is the new clean. The ‘dirty’ sectors like oil, coal and shipping surged last year on the back of strong demand and muted supply due to years of underinvestment.
